Hi, I’m Jamie
I’m the founder of Nest Box Live — and probably the person who’ll reply if you email us.
Back in 2020 I was a music teacher. In the evenings I’d watch the live nest cameras on BBC’s Springwatch, and I couldn’t shake one thought: why can’t everyone have this in their own backyard?
So I built one. The first camera box was pieced together from basic components on the kitchen table, and when I put the stream online, thousands of people around the world tuned in to watch the first live stream.
That was the moment. I left teaching to do this full-time — swapped lesson plans for bird houses — and I’ve never looked back.

Everything here, we built ourselves
Most birdhouse cameras are the same cheap imported kit with a different logo on the box. We went the other way: the camera, the box, the app, the live platform — all designed and built from scratch, by us, for one purpose.
That obsession with detail is why the picture looks the way it does: the right camera, the right angle, lighting tuned for day and night, so you never miss the moment a nest comes to life.

Camera, box, app and live platform — engineered together, not assembled from someone else’s parts.
The right lens, the right angle, lighting for day and night — so the first hatch looks as good as it feels.
Cloud storage, AI detection and alerts — all included, free forever. One price, nothing else to pay.
Every design decision starts with the same question: is this good for the birds? If a feature is good for viewers but bad for nesting birds, it doesn’t ship.
Smart recording saves footage when there’s bird activity — no disturbing checks, no wading through empty hours.
Night vision the birds never notice. You see everything; the birds see nothing at all.
Safe, dry, weatherproof boxes built to nesting-box best practice — the camera earns its place, the birds keep theirs.

Every box quietly records visit times, dates and durations. Together, our boxes have logged over 8 million bird visits — one of the largest datasets of nesting behavior anywhere.
Our goal is to open it up to researchers and conservationists, so the boxes in our backyards help protect the birds far beyond them.
“Nature lovers can now film their feathered friends Springwatch-style at home.”

“Excellent nest box quality, neat camera and lighting module delivering outstanding images and videos, easy to set-up and app functionality really good.”

“Came across the Facebook page and loved the idea of watching the birds without disturbing them! We got to experience live the eastern bluebirds’ nesting behaviour and I’m still in awe every time I see it. Jamie is the most amazing at customer service — literally one of the best investments if you’re a bird lover!”
“I have really enjoyed following the lives of the little birds in my nest box. It’s been such a heartwarming experience watching them grow and interact. Whenever I’ve had any questions, Jamie has been fantastic at addressing them.”
“Easy to set up, with its high-definition camera delivering sharp, clear footage. I appreciated the built-in lighting for nighttime visibility and the app that let me monitor nesting birds remotely — immersive and enjoyable without disturbing the wildlife.”
“This was exactly what I was looking for. The box is solid, attractive and well constructed. The following day I had a Tree Sparrow investigating its new home! I can stream my nest box and also watch others around the world. I would be lost without mine!”
Put up the Smart Bird House Camera and wait for your first visitor. HD video day and night, AI that names every species, an alert the moment they land — and no subscription, ever.
