The birdhouse connects using a single Ethernet cable, which carries both power and internet through a technology called Power over Ethernet (PoE). To make setup easy, we include a PoE injector in the box — this plugs into a standard power outlet inside your home and connects to your router. From there, the Ethernet cable runs out to the birdhouse (up to 300 feet away), giving you a strong and reliable connection with no dropouts — ensuring you never miss those special moments happening inside your birdhouse.
Once your birdhouse is connected, all you need to do is download the app and create an account. The app will automatically find your birdhouse and sync everything for you, making it super easy.
All the bird activity is automatically recorded and saved to the cloud. Our AI detection system ensures that only videos with actual bird activity are kept, so you don’t have to sift through hours of empty footage. All your recordings are securely stored and easily accessible within our app — anytime, anywhere. I have had my Nestbox for almost a year and have seen a few visitors and overnight stops but no nesting. Hopefully next year. The box is well-built and being permanently wired/powered it is put up and forget. The recordings are motion-activated and stored on a cloud, with notifications. The quality of the recordings is excellent. The App and its service work well but would be improved by a better video player with controls and an option to download recordings. I can’t comment as to the accuracy of the AI bird identification as almost all my visits have been blue tits. The size of the entrance hole could be altered for different birds. Option to share your Nestbox video online and to view other’s Nestboxes, and live stream if you wish. I am happy with the nest box and looking forward to the spring.
